My persepctive has changed, baby.
So I ran the Bronx Half-Marathon at an 8:24 pace. I was a little disappointed. I mean, it was great fun... and I beat last year's time by 38 seconds per mile, but I wanted to try to get under 8:15, which is my current personal best. This is the first race I've run twice.
Three years ago, I couldn't run a quarter mile.
So, over the last five years, I've gone from a pack-and-a-half-a-day smoker and problem drinker to Mr. Green Tea and distance running. I wonder what Maggie really makes of all this? Does it make her insecure? That I'll someday revert to my self-destructive and unhealthy ways?
I hope not. I mean: how can I? She's letting me go to a bachelor party in Montreal.

That's a great turn around!
Now only if I could get off this chair and go swimming for 30 min every morning!!!
Yess!!! You can run faster than I can ever dream about. I think I did the mile in 9:20 back in high school and that has been my personal best.
Sounds like you are taking great care of yourself. I like surfing... but I've only done it in the blogworld.
congrats - what a great improvement!
it really wasn't a day for setting personal records, i think.
I can't even run to the corner, but I've only been doing this non smoking thing for 8 months.
I'm just.... easing myself into the health scene.
Does it hurt?
Deb
Congratulations! You should be very proud of your accomplishments. To be a smoker and turn-around to times like that is no small feat. :-) A.
aaaahhhh smokers.... remind me of a bad Kevin Costner movie...
This is inspirational stuff... am just at the beginning of your journey, and hearing about your incredible success gives me so much hope...
keep up the good work, mate...
I know I need to start good habits now, but I can't even consistently walk around the block once a day!
