This is a bad comedy.

For my 37th birthday, Maggie got me a 42-inch HD Plasma TV. I was totally blown away. I didn't mention it because, I think, I was mildly embarrassed at having such an awesome, huge-ass TV. We've had it for 2 days.

But now that my son's 5-year-old friend just knocked a strawberry shake directly onto the screen... with shake leaking into the fucking crack between the screen and the molding... I guess it's okay to mention.

That's it from me right now. Love to all. Even you, kid. Even you.

p.s. I forgot to mention: In the half-hour before the Shake Event, our washing machine burned out and our babysitter canceled for our big night at the opera. Oh, and Maggie is at the mall, and I have three kids over for play dates, in addition to my own.

Hey Rich. I'm a Westchester-ite myself.

That TV story hurt me as well. Is it still working? Is the kid still walking???

Hi, Ken!

The TV turns on, I'm happy to say. Although I screamed "SHIT!" at no one in particular, I did manage to tell the kid that I wasn't mad at him, and accidents happen.

AND, the babysitter changed her mind, and I just picked her up.

Washing machine still dead.

I know that I am late to the scene. You can always clean and return the TV (worst case scenario).

A better choice would be to unplug the TV. Let it dry and then disassemble. Clean what needs it. Let dry. Re-assemble.

Hi def rocks doesn't it? It's like looking out the window. Well, except I don't live in the rain forest, Grand Canyon, Orange County Choppers or a football field in Detroit!

Enjoy it!

Regarding your big, expensive TV, please plug it into a surge protector (a good one, not a cheap one) and if you have cable, make sure you route the cable wire thru the surge protector as well. One power surge and that TV will be a big expensive paper weight...and the inspiration for a very funny blog entry. Take care.

Dude! I'm a Rocklander, and I feel for you. My son decided to help me one day by picking up the spray bottle to clean my computer. It took many days for it to dry out. Best of luck.

Just read about the carpet. Oof!
